Ingredients
For the Manchurian balls:
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- ½ cup grated carrot
- ¼ cup finely chopped capsicum
- 2 tbsp finely chopped spring onion
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp refined flour
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
For the sauce:
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
- 2 tbsp chopped spring onion whites
- 2 tbsp chopped capsicum
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- ½ tsp vinegar
- ¼ tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water
- Spring onion greens for garnish
Method
- In a bowl, mix chopped cabbage, carrot, capsicum, spring onion, ginger-garlic paste, salt, black pepper, cornflour, and refined flour.
- Mix everything well until the vegetables release slight moisture and the mixture comes together.
- Shape into small balls and fry until golden, crisp, and cooked from inside.
- For the sauce, heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic, ginger, and spring onion whites until aromatic.
- Add capsicum and toss on high flame for a few seconds to keep it crunchy.
- Add soy sauce, red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Add cornflour slurry and cook until the sauce becomes glossy and coats the spoon lightly.
- Add the fried Manchurian balls and toss quickly so they are evenly coated with the sauce.
- Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
